Urban Art Now celebrates the 5th anniversary of its URBAN ART FESTIVAL in Amsterdam and it is proud to present a stimulating and creative week programme with diverse exhibitions, and side events bringing perspectives from a range of disciplines and styles.
Urban Art can not be defined as one thing only since the city is in nature a playground for art; the battles will go on affording moments of retro flexion and display- in its many forms. Abstract and realist artists explore shapes our ideas and allude to how we perceive ourselves and the world around us.
Works exhibited in the festival will range from installations, video mapping, tape and canvas exhibitions and live painting and cover the conceptual, ideological and political.
INTRODUCING NEW STYLES
The 2015 edition will introduce a new style of Urban Art with a GRAFFUTURISM focused event, premièring this style to its audience in the Netherlands; this show will be dichotomous with a separate exhibition of STENCIL MASTERS. Following some introduction notes to this types of urban art. The pre-event will present 21 of the best Dutch and Belgian artists during ART17 – BENELUX STREET ART exhibition as part of the BesteBuren campaign that celebrates 20 years art and culture friendship between the Netherlands and Flanders.
AMSTERDAM’S BIGGEST FESTIVAL FOR INTERNATIONAL STREET ART
Urban Art Festival has a long track record in promoting street and urban art with awe-inspiring festivals and events. Founded in 2010 and since 2013 it is the largest urban contemporary and street art festival in Amsterdam. It strives to introduce socially relevant thematic subjects and new art-forms into the country. This art fête often looks for international and European synergies to enhance and share the experiences and knowledge of the arts as well as to create an expansive platform of artists and initiatives.
Furthermore, with this edition during ADE, curator Urban Art Now starts a series of events that explore art in the public space and the dynamics around it, in particular art within the social sphere.
